Damian Lillard is an All-Star
The All-Star reserves were announced on Thursday, and Lillard earned his seventh career selection.
The NBA announced the All-Star reserves for both conferences on Thursday, during TNT's pregame show and to nobody's surprise, Damian Lillard was selected for the seventh time in his career.
The news comes as Lillard is in the midst of maybe the best stretch of play of his entire career. He's scored 42 points in each of the Trail Blazers' last two games, wins over the Hawks and Grizzlies, and has scored at least 30 in 10 of the last 12 games, including a 60-point performance against the Jazz last week.
Lillard joins Memphis' Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis, Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Clippers' Paul George and Utah's Lauri Markkanen as Western Conference reserves, alongside the starters that were announced last week: Golden State's Stephen Curry and Dallas' Luka Doncic in the backcourt and the Lakers' LeBron James, New Orleans' Zion Williamson and Denver's Nikola Jokic in the frontcourt.
Lillard won't be the Blazers' only representation at All-Star Weekend, which will take place in Salt Lake City from Feb. 17-19. Shaedon Sharpe will also participate in the dunk contest on Saturday night.
