Jrue Holiday Trade Represents a Big Bet on Trail Blazers' Young Core's Readiness
Portland moved on from Anfernee Simons in Monday's shocking draft-week trade.

Jrue Holiday's first tenure as a member of the Trail Blazers lasted three days, 17 hours and 57 minutes.
Part two won't be quite as short-lived.
On Monday evening, a league source confirmed ESPN's report that the Blazers had reacquired Holiday from the Boston Celtics in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two future second-round picks. And this time, the source said, the plan is to keep him.
Portland traded Holiday to Boston on the eve of training camp in 2023, days after getting him from Milwaukee in the Damian Lillard trade, accommodating his desire to be rerouted to a contending team as the Blazers began a rebuild. They're getting him back two years later as they look to move out of that rebuild and back into playoff contention.
For both Holiday and the Blazers, circumstances are different now, even if some things are the same.
