From the day he was traded to Milwaukee nearly two years ago, Damian Lillard began openly telling people in his life that, despite the at-the-time bitter divorce with the franchise, he wanted to end his career with the Trail Blazers.

Even in the goodbye letter he posted after the trade became official, he hinted at the possibility.

"I do believe a day will come where I put a Blazers uniform on again," he wrote to close it out. "And hopefully by then I’ll be forgiven for breaking your hearts along with my own."

Nobody could have imagined the day would come this soon, or that these would be the circumstances.
