📍PORTLAND, Ore. — In 48 hours, the Trail Blazers will find themselves in a do-or-die situation.
Portland's first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs has already seen Victor Wembanyama leave with a concussion, clear league protocol and return. It's seen both teams blow double-digit second-half leads at home—the Spurs in Game 2, and the Blazers in each of the last two.
The Blazers should be up 3-1 right now but, after a second meltdown in three days, find themselves instead down 3-1 and potentially facing elimination in San Antonio on Tuesday.
Tiago Splitter is coaching for his job amid an ownership change, and the Blazers' backs are against the wall. They don't have many cards left to play in a series that's been filled with adjustments and counter-adjustments from game to game and even within the same game.
But there's one obvious move left for Splitter to make in a last-ditch attempt to keep the season alive.
You probably thought I was talking about the "Damian Lillard could return for the playoffs" social-media nonsense, right?
