📍SALT LAKE CITY — From the day the Trail Blazers made the surprising move to trade for Ja Morant this offseason, two schools of thought emerged.
One was that the addition of Morant, along with Damian Lillard, to a stable of lead playmakers that already included Jrue Holiday, Scoot Henderson and Deni Avdija would create a logjam and confusion about roles and fit.
The other was that having this many starting-caliber guards would be a safeguard against the kind of bad injury luck Portland had in the backcourt last season, when they had to rely on two-way players to play real minutes for much of the season.
Four games into the experiment, that depth will be tested.
