For the third year in a row, the trade deadline came and went without a major move for the Trail Blazers.
The Giannis Antetokounmpo miracle scenario never came to pass. It sounds like he was never particularly close to going anywhere. Pour one out for the few days where Jonathan Kuminga, who has been racking up DNP's in Golden State, was being widely touted as the "enticing young prospect" that could land Giannis with the Warriors. After months of breathless updates, Kuminga was salary-dumped to Atlanta, never to be heard from on any national media platform again. A few other big names (Ivica Zubac, Jaren Jackson Jr.) changed teams, but at a high price. The Jazz and Wizards appear to be done tanking...as of next season.
Back here in Portland, Sunday's trade for Vít Krejčí will be it for roster changes until the Blazers have to decide on their two-way players. They will attempt to make the playoffs with their roster as-is.
