On the heels of Donovan Clingan earning second team All-Rookie honors earlier this week, the Trail Blazers got another individual end-of-season award, with Toumani Camara being named to the All-Defensive second team.
Camara got six first-team votes and 62 second-team votes.
Camara was arguably the Blazers' most important player in his second season and emerged as the face of a defense that was third-best in the NBA in the second half of the year. He's also become one of the players the Blazers are positioning as central to their rebuild: they put a significant promotional effort behind his Defensive Player of the Year case, and he represented them onstage last week at the draft lottery in Chicago.
"We're excited for Toumani and thrilled that he's getting the recognition he deserves," Blazers general manager Joe Cronin said. "Toumani's aspirations are big — he's just getting started."
