Sean, is it possible that the Blazers try to move him into a front office role alongside Cronin instead? He started down that path once before as I recall and the Cronin / Chauncey relationship seems solid.

Billups has said his heart is in coaching, and that's very apparent in the way he has spoken in interviews despite the circumstances he's been put in

I think he has to say that, if it's real or not is the question. Brad Stevens made similar comments. It is a way for Billups to avoid getting fired from his first gig and he can always dive back into coaching a year or two from now without the stigma.

I don't think it makes sense for either side for Billups to move to the FO. Chauncey's HC record won't keep him from getting a new job elsewhere. It likely won't be a head coaching gig at first, but he should be able to be somebody's lead assistant and improve his in-game strategies and adjustments through other environments. He's too respected by players around the league to not get something

It gets old reading social media comments about how the team should fire Billups using the logic that he was handed a team that went to the playoffs 8 straight years and the team immediately started losing. How do you even argue with people that use such flawed logic? I don’t know how good of a coach Billups is but I do know that this losing isn’t on him in any way. I know the players still seem on board and they know more than fans with unrealistic expectations.

This is true to some extent but he was hired to coach a veteran laden playoff team not as a development coach. They may move on because he isn't the right choice for this new path.
